Women’s Basketball Ranked No. 17 in National Media Poll

ANDERSON, S.C. - With the NCAA Southeast Regional on the horizon, Anderson University women's basketball received its highest national ranking of the season, jumping up one position to No. 17 in the weekly National Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, announced by the committee on Tuesday.

The Trojans enter the NCAA Tournament with a 25-4 overall record after advancing to their second SAC Tournament championship in three seasons. Earlier this year, AU claimed its second SAC regular-season championship in program history, as it earned the No. 3 seed in this weekend's postseason tournament.

Anderson is one of three teams from the Southeast Region to be listed in the top-25, as the regional's top seed, Limestone, claimed the No. 2 spot, while second-seeded Columbus State ranks sixth. AU's opponent on Friday and SAC Tournament champions, Newberry, was receiving votes and just missed the top-25.

AU cracked the top-25 for the first time in program history a month ago and remained in the national ranking for the rest of the regular season.

The Black and Gold will square off with Newberry on Friday in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament at the Timken Center in Gaffney, S.C. Tip-off with the Wolves for the fourth time this season is slated for noon.
