Women’s Basketball Set to Host Opening Round of SAC Tournament

ANDERSON, S.C. - After one of the most successful regular seasons in program history, Anderson University women's basketball is set to host the quarterfinal round of the 2015 South Atlantic Conference Tournament, which is set to begin on Wednesday at the home sites of the higher seeds.

Claiming their second SAC regular-season championship in the last three seasons, the Trojans are set to host eighth-seeded Mars Hill at the Abney Athletic Center beginning at 7 p.m. The winner of the quarterfinal matchup will head to the semifinals against the winner of Game 2 of fourth-seeded Catawba and fifth-seeded Carson-Newman.

Tickets for Wednesday's quarterfinal games at the Abney Center are $6 for adults, $3 for children and college students with college ID.

The AU ticket window will open at 6 p.m. and tickets may be purchased with cash only. No debit or credit cards will be accepted.

Following the quarterfinals, the remainder of the tournament will be played at Furman University's Timmons Arena with the semifinals being played on Saturday and the championship round slated for Sunday. Tickets for the semifinal rounds on Saturday at Furman's Timmons Arena are $13 for adults and $6 for children and college students with college ID, while Sunday's ticket prices range from $11 for adults and $6 for children and college students with an ID.

Top-seeded Anderson looks for its third victory over MHU this season, after sweeping the season series with a 94-85 overtime win at the Abney Center on Jan. 14, followed by a 71-58 victory at Stanford Arena on Feb. 11. Both of the wins were part of AU's current 16-game winning streak, its longest since the 2007-08 season.

The Trojans are currently the highest rated team from the SAC in the Southeast Region, coming in the third spot in the latest regional poll, as they were ranked as high as No. 21 in the National Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA.

The winner of the SAC Tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament at a site to be announced later.
