Trojans Storm to No. 18 in National Media Poll

ANDERSON, S.C. - Sealing the South Atlantic Conference regular-season championship on Saturday, Anderson University women's basketball jumped four spots to No. 18 in the weekly National Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, announced by the committee on Tuesday.

Landing in the top-20 for the first time in program history, the Trojans enter the postseason on a 16-game winning streak and boast a 23-3 overall record, including a 20-2 mark in conference play. With the regular season crown, AU earned the top seed in this week's SAC Tournament, as the quarterfinals are slated to get underway on Wednesday.

Anderson made its first appearance in the national poll on Feb. 10 when it was positioned in the No. 21 spot. Following the ranking, the Trojans dropped to No. 22 for two straight weeks before reaching No. 18 this week.

Anderson is one of three teams from the Southeast Region within the top-25, as Limestone earned a single first-place vote and placed second, while Columbus State was slotted sixth. Fellow regional opponent, Lander, was receiving votes in last week's poll, but failed to earn a vote this week.

Anderson awaits the third and final NCAA Regional Rankings on Wednesday before its SAC Tournament showdown with eighth-seeded Mars Hill. Tip-off from the Abney Athletic Center is set for 7 p.m.
