ANDERSON, S.C. - The game notes for the Anderson University women's basketball team's road game with South Atlantic Conference opponent Coker have been released.
As Anderson heads down the home stretch of its 2013-14 schedule, the Trojans look to secure their spot in the 2014 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference tournament, holding a two-game advantage over ninth-place Tusculum with three games to go. Currently, the Black and Gold are in a tie for seventh-place, alongside tonight's opponent, Coker. The two teams carry identical 9-10 conference records, as Anderson holds the slight advantage in overall marks, as AU is 13-12, while Coker sits below .500 at 11-12.
After winning three of their last four to close the month of January, the Trojans are just 2-4 in February with the only wins coming against Tusculum (75-67) and Mars Hill (97-58) which needs wins to earn a berth into the conference tournament. Anderson looks to avenge an earlier setback against the Cobras, as its in-state rivals claimed a 72-66 victory at the Abney Athletic Center on Jan. 11, eventually handing AU its worst losing streak of the year.
Coker has fallen on tough times recently, dropping four of its last five contests, including its last two by a combined five points. Tonight's winner will move into at least a tie for sixth-place in the league standings.
