Dotson and Bayatyan Named Jimmy John's Athletes of the Week

ANDERSON, S.C. – Elliot Dotson of the Anderson University men's cross country team, and Mariam Bayatyan of the women's tennis team have been named the Jimmy John's Male and Female Athletes of the Week, for the week ending October 23rd.

Dotson, a freshman from Simpsonville, S.C., set a new Anderson 8,000m school record at the UAH Invitational with a time of 24:09.20, breaking the record set by teammate Spain Vaughan a few weeks prior (24:34.1). Dotson finished 24th out of 486 runners in the meet that included seven nationally ranked teams.

Bayatyan, a sophomore from Brooklyn, N.Y., convincingly won both of her matches at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles versus North Greenville. Bayatyan won her singles match, 6-3, 6-0 and won her doubles match, 6-2, with her partner Anna Greer.

Each week, two student-athletes are honored as the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Week for his or her performances in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
