Trojans Ranked Third in USTFCCCA Poll as the 2022 Season Begins Saturday

NEW ORLEANS, LA. - The Anderson University men's cross-country team remained third in the United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Regional Poll after one week of competition for most programs.

The top-five remained the same as last week, with defending regional champion Wingate topping the Southeast Region Poll, after being voted first in the South Atlantic Conference preseason poll on Aug. 17. Last year's fourth place finisher Augusta, out of the Peach Belt Conference, ranks second with Anderson taking third. Emmauel (GA) from Conference Carolinas finished fourth, and Catawba rounded out the top-five.

"Our ultimate goal for the year is to get this team to NCAA Nationals at the end of the year," said coach Kevin Eagle. "That will take a top-three finish at the regional championships. We are looking like a top-three team now, but it is a long way to go until November when meaningful races actually begin. I am excited to see this group take off!"

Anderson will start their 2022 season when they make the trip to Spartanburg, S.C. for the Converse Kick-Off Classic. The action is slated to begin at 8:30 a.m., with results available at www.autrojans.com.

"The main focus for our first competition is to simply get our racing legs back under us," said Eagle. "There will be a couple of regionally ranked schools in both races for the men and women, so it will give us an idea on how we stack up early on. Both teams are excited to kick off the season this weekend, so it will be fun to watch!"
