Spain Vaughan Sets 8K School Record at Queen City Invite

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Anderson University men's cross-country team finished second in the Queen City Invite on Friday (Sept. 23) with a total team time of 2:06:44, an average time of 25:20, and a score of 46.

Spain Vaughan led the way for the Trojans with a time of 24:37 to finish fourth, setting a new Anderson school record for the 8,000m. Patrick Berlejung finished inside the top-10 at a pace of 25:26. Ty Nelson (25:31) and Jonathan Roberts (25:32) took 11th and 12th, respectively.

Freshman Elliot Dotson finished 15th with a time of 25:38, while graduate transfer Will Oglesby took 23rd place at 25:58. Michael Burgess (26:13), David Williams (26:21), Bryson Mace (26:21), and Adam Trusty (26:49) ran in a pack for the Trojans.

"The men ran another great race and displayed great pack running," said coach Kevin Eagle. "Each guy improved their 8k time from a week ago as many ran new lifetime personal bests, including a new school record by Spain Vaughan in the 8k."

The Trojans will be back in action on Friday (Oct. 7) when they return to Charlotte, N.C. for the Royals Challenge. Results can be found at www.autrojans.com.
