Trojans Out Fight Eagles; 4-3

Jefferson City, Tenn.-Anderson University men's women's tennis team came from behind to defeat South Atlantic Conference opponent Carson-Newman, 4-3, on Tuesday afternoon at Buddy Catlett Tennis Complex. The Trojans improve to 3-1 overall and 3-1 in SAC play, while Carson-Newman drops to 4-5 overall and 2-1 in conference action.

"The men had to come from behind to win today, but they got it done," said Director of Tennis Joey Eskridge. "We lost the doubles point which put us behind after doubles, but we won two out of the first three singles matches then it came down to number three singles with Thomas Pudney saving a match point in the second set then winning a tie breaker for the second set and then he won the third 6-2 to clinch it for us."

"Although I have seen us play better we still came through against a tough and confident Carson-Newman men's team today," added Eskridge. "Very proud of the fight today from the boys."

The Trojans travel to nonconference opponent Southern Wesleyan on Thursday. First-serve is slated for 2 pm.
