ITA All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes Announced; Men’s and Women’s Tennis Honored

TEMPE, Ariz. – Anderson University men's and women's tennis team have earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team award with multiple student-athletes from each program being recognized as an ITA scholar-athlete, as announced by the association.

More than 1,350 scholar-athletes were recognized across the men's and women's DII level, along with over 224 All-Academic teams.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status an individual player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year)

Anderson men's tennis combined for an overall GPA of 3.50, while men's tennis members Ignacio Bidegain, Jeffrey Dayton, Austin Koenes, Adam Kush, John Lyons, Preston Morpeth, Jerry Price, Hank Sartain, Thomas Smalley and Simon Wilson each compiled at least a 3.5 or better to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status.

Anderson women's tennis combined for an overall GPA of 3.57, while women's tennis members Carrigan Blanchard, Grace Crawford, Kate Drosieko, Anna Greer, Megan Pleasant, Anya Tarlouskaya and Hannah Weaver each compiled at least a 3.5 or better to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status.

Before being halted due to CoVID-19, both programs were in the middle of a spectator season with a combined record of 25-5. The Trojans are slated to open up its 2020 fall schedule on September 19 at USC Sumter.
