Men's Golf Gains Pair of Commitments

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson head men's golf coach Danny Neal has announced the addition of two high school standouts to the Trojans' 2010 roster, inking Austin Carney out of Anderson High School (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Arran Setro from Dorman High School.

Setro (pronounced uh-RAHN SET-ro), a native of Moore, S.C. will be a solid addition to the AU golf team. He was a five-time varsity letterwinner for the Cavaliers and earned Region II AAAA All-Region accolades as both a freshman and sophomore, while being named the squad's most improved player as a ninth-grader. He was a member of the North/South All-Star team as a senior and was named to the Spartanburg Herald Journal All-Area squad three consecutive years. Setro was also a U.S. Junior Qualifier Alternate in 2008.

A native of Cincinnati, Carney had a very successful junior career. The product out of Anderson High School took home medalist honors at both the Anderson Invitational and the King of the Hill Championship, while carding six other top 15 finishes. He was a three-time first-team all conference honoree and helped lead the Redskins to a second-place finish in the league last season. Carney posted the team's top scoring average for the past three years and was in the top five in the conference as a junior and senior. He earned Fort Ancient Valley Conference all-tournament honors the last three seasons and was named All-FAVC Conference following his junior campaign. He lettered in baseball for the Redskins as a junior and senior and also excelled in the classroom, earning academic all-conference recognition and was named a top scholar-athlete.
