WHITEVILLE, N.C. -- The Anderson men's golf team was one of six teams to improve their scores on the final day of play Saturday afternoon at the 2010 Carolina Sands Intercollegiate hosted by UNC Pembroke at the par 72, 6,925 yard, Carolina Sands Golf Club. The Trojans posted the fourth-lowest overall final-round score en route to moving all the way from 12th to 6th at AU's final regular-season event, finishing just one stroke behind Lindenwood and five shots behind fourth-place Mount Olive. Ryan Booth (74-69=143) and Chase Epting (78-72=150) helped lead the charge as Anderson leaped past Newberry, Tusculum and Erskine with the stellar outing. Booth wrapped up the tourney in a two-way tie for sixth, while Epting and Won Jacob Yoon (75-75=150) each garnered a share of 34th. Kenny Shockley (76-79=155) tied for 61st and Charlie Bagwell (78-80=158) tied for 73rd. Coker's Christopher Marsh shot a three-under-par 69 to go along with the 71 he shot on Friday to win the event by one stroke at 141. Marsh won the tournament last year in a playoff after posting a 138 over two rounds.
