CHARLOTTE, N.C. - In a game that was rescheduled from nine days ago, 15th-ranked Queens University used a late scoring flurry to hold off Anderson's upset bid by a 76-65 score in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action, Wednesday night at the Levine Center.

Anderson (5-15, 3-11 SAC) dropped its seventh consecutive decision and is searching for its first road victory of the season, while Queens (18-2, 12-2 SAC) remained perfect at home on the season by winning its fourth straight and sixth of its last seven outings.

The Trojans outshot Queens from the field, 45.8 percent to 43.9 percent, and outscored the Royals by four in the paint, but Queens held a 40-30 rebounding advantage and converted 21 offensive boards into 24 second-chance points.

Sophomore guard Tre' Fields led the Trojans' offensive attack with 15 points, with junior guard Lex Davis adding 14 points. Sophomore guard Maurice Howard tallied 13 points and three assists, while junior center Rakish Taylor netted seven points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

Trailing by three less than four minutes into the contest, the Trojans reeled off a 14-1 run that gave the Black and Gold their largest lead of the contest, at 18-8, with 12:20 left in the first half. Howard and Fields each netted five points during the surge, with Tony Dargan sinking a jumper to cap the run.

The Trojans maintained the advantage for nearly the remainder of the opening half, but Queens stayed within striking distance and knotted the score for the fourth time of the night, at 33-33, on a dunk by Daniel Camps just before halftime.

Six minutes into the second half, the Royals edged out to a 48-42 lead, but the Trojans rallied by outscoring Queens, 9-2, over the next three minutes to claim their final lead of the night, at 51-50, on a slam by Davis with 11:31 left.

With the score even at 55 apiece, Queens posted a 15-4 run to build an 11-point cushion with exactly three minutes left and the Trojans were unable to get any closer than eight the rest of the way.

The Trojans return home for a brief one-game homestand when Tusculum invades the Abney Athletic Center on Wednesday. Tip-off versus the Pioneers is scheduled for 8 p.m.
