With the come-from-behind win, Anderson improved to 5-8 overall and 3-4 in the league with its second straight victory, while Brevard fell to 2-10 overall and 1-5 in the conference with its fourth consecutive loss.

Freshman guard Randall Shaw led the Trojans with 17 points, while sophomore guard Tre' Fields came off the bench to add 15 points, including 10 in the first half, while also pulling down seven rebounds. Junior center Rakish Taylor narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds, with sophomore guard Maurice Howard tallying nine rebounds, five points and a game-high six assists. The Tornados connected on five of their first six shots en route to scoring the first 12 points of the game, with AU freshman Jeremy Bouton getting the Trojans on the scoreboard with a short jumper in the paint at the 16:29 mark. The 6-foot-6 forward connected on a 3-pointer 27 seconds later to trigger a 14-4 run by the Trojans that gave AU a 19-17 edge midway through the first half. Fields drained back-to-back 3-pointers to fuel the rally, but the Tornados claimed a 35-30 halftime advantage.

The second half featured six ties and five lead changes before the Trojans overcame Brevard's 56-53 lead on a putback by Taylor and another 3-pointer from Fields. Following a Tornado turnover, the duo sandwiched close baskets in the paint around another Brevard miscue to boost the Trojans' lead to 62-56 with 36 seconds left.

After the AU defense forced the Tornados into another turnover, Howard connected on two from the line before Alex Moe dropped in a layup for Brevard to pull the Tornados within 64-58 with less than 10 seconds on the clock. Howard went to the line again in the final moments and sank one-of-two to set the final score.
