Men’s Basketball Seeded Seventh in Southeast Region

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Trojan men's basketball team has been seeded seventh in the NCAA's Southeast Region and will face second-seeded Lincoln Memorial Saturday at host Augusta State as announced by the NCAA selection Committee Sunday night.

Saturday's contest will mark the Trojans' second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship after making their tourney debut as a No. five seed last season and earning a win in their first-ever NCAA Tournament.

The game will feature the top two teams from the South Atlantic Conference's regular season slate, with the Trojans and nationally 12th ranked Railsplitters squaring off for the third time this season. Each team defended its homecourt during the regular-season matchups, with Anderson being one of only two teams to defeat LMU.

The Railsplitters entered the 2011 Food Lion SAC Tournament as the top seed and claimed their first-ever title Sunday afternoon with a 68-58 win past Wingate, improving to 27-2 overall. LMU will be making their first-ever trip to the NCAA Championship.

Anderson wrapped up the regular season ranked sixth in the region after notching an 18-10 regular-season campaign and earning the second seed in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament, while wrapping up the regular season on a four-game win streak. The Trojans were looking for an at-large berth to the Big Dance after suffering a setback at the hands of seventh-seeded Catawba in the Food Lion SAC Tournament Quarterfinals.

Anderson boasts five players averaging double figures, and is led in scoring by second-team All-SAC honoree Kevis Cornwell's 12.4 points per game average. Fellow senior Brandon Young, a first-team selection, adds 12 points per contest and led the team with 56 treys on the season. Rookie Denzail Jones was named to the All-Freshman team after ranking 18th in the league in scoring with 12.3 points per contest.
