Bishoff Claims Third at Louisville Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Anderson junior Whitney Bishoff claimed a third-place overall finish to pace the Anderson women's cross country team as the Trojans finished 22nd at the 2010 Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic Saturday morning.

The event, hosted by the Greater Louisville Sports Commission at E. P. Tom Sawyer State Park, featured a field of 34 teams, including five Division I squads from around the South and Midwest.

The native of Winder, Ga., finished third out of a total of 285 runners with a time of 18:14.25 over the 5k distance. She crossed the finish line less than seven seconds out of the second spot.

Newcomer Lydia Davis continues to trim impressive times off her races, improving by more than 21 seconds from her debut at USC Upstate's Eye-Opener in early September, to finish 48th on Saturday with a time of 19:23.52. Another freshman, Madeline Fitts (20:31.78) sliced nearly 23 seconds off her time at the Clemson Invitational two weeks ago, finishing 127th.

Sophomore Emily Eckroth (20:55.33) finished 148th, with freshman Hannah Robles (21:20.21) crossing the finish line in 173rd. Sophomore Isabel Berry (21:34.16) and freshman Madison Guest (23:05.17) rounded out the AU squad in 186th and 218th , respectively.

The Trojans are scheduled to get back on the course Oct. 15 at the Queens Invitational.
