Trojans Score Late To Earn Draw Against Lincoln Memorial; 1-1

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson (2-2-1, 1-0-1 SAC) conceded a goal late in the first half to fall behind, 1-0, before scoring the equalizer in the 86th minute versus South Atlantic Conference opponent Lincoln Memorial (4-1-1, 0-0-1 SAC) on Saturday afternoon at Spero Financial Field.

"We didn't play to our standard today," said head coach Sarah Jacobs. "However, I am proud of the team for fighting to the end to equalize."

"We are looking forward to another opportunity on Wednesday at home," added Jacobs.

Lincoln Memorial took advantage of a ball that lingered just a little too long in front of the goal with the Railsplitter's Ellie Snider punching it over senior AU goalkeeper Victoria McGovern.

Anderson turned up the offensive attack in the second half of action just missing some great opportunities to score. The best chance came in the 80th minute with the Black and Gold's penalty kick hitting the right post.

However, a relentless group of Trojans continued to pressure LMU's backline. With a loose ball in front of the goal, freshman McKenna Farlarski positioned herself in the correct spot finding the back of the net on a low driven ball to the near post to tie the match at, 1-1.

Anderson outshot the Railsplitter's 16-13 with six shots coming on goal to LMU's seven shots. AU recorded five corner kicks to LMU's one.

Anderson's Victoria McGovern recorded six saves on the afternoon.

The Trojans remains home on Wednesday when it welcomes SAC opponent Lenoir-Rhyne. Kick-off is slated for 5 pm at Spero Financial Field.
