No. 7 Trojans Sit in Second After Day One of Patsy Rendleman Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. – After a week off taking some time to fine tune their game, the Anderson University women's golf team returned to the links as they made the short trip up I-85 to the Country Club of Salisbury to take part in the Patsy Rendleman Invitational hosted by Catawba College.

The Trojans finished the opening day in second place at +36, just one stroke off the leaders Lenoir-Rhyne who used a strong second round to jump up two spots and take the lead.

Anderson was led on the day by sophomore Aly Francis (Stockbridge, Ga.) who posted a 76-73 on the day to finish tied for third on the individual leaderboard. Francis is competing as an individual and won't count towards the team score. Joining her individually for the tournament is freshman Yvette Gorden (Montgomery, Ala.) who sits 24th in the tournament with a pair of 79s on the day.

Counting towards the team score, sophomore Kennedy Gooding (Lexington, S.C.) led the way with rounds of 77-74, sitting in a tie for 7th with a +9 on the day. Senior Jessica Rathbone (Montpelier, Va.) and junior Kennedy McGaha (Honea Path, S.C.) shot 76s all around on the day as they both currently sit tied for 10th after two rounds of action.

Sophomore Paige Paolucci (Blythewood, S.C.) and junior Zoey Iglesias (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) each finished the day +11 and tied for 14th overall to round out the team scoring.

Anderson will look to take back the top spot on the leaderboard tomorrow as they wrap up the tournament with third round action starting at 8:30 a.m.
