McGaha; No. 7 Trojans Lead the Way After Day One of Meredith Insurance Fall Kickoff

GREENWOOD, S.C. – After the opening round of their first action of the fall season, the nationally seventh-ranked Anderson University women's golf team sits atop the leaderboard at the Meredith Insurance Associates Fall Kickoff hosted by the Trojans and Erskine at the Links at Stoney Point.

The Trojans posted a +5 for the day, carding a one-over in the opening round before slating four-over in the second round of action. They currently hold an 11-stroke lead over Wingate and a 16 and 19 stroke lead over Lee and West Georgia, who sit third and fourth.

Junior Kennedy McGaha (Honea Path, S.C.) leads the individual side of the tournament after posting an opening round of 68 (-4) to jump out to the early lead, she was able to maintain that advantage with a 71 (-1) in the afternoon round.  Sophomore Paige Paolucci (Blythewood, S.C.) sits third in the rankings a one-under par overall score. She opened the day with an even round before shooting 71 (-1) in the late afternoon.

Sophomore Kennedy Gooding (Lexington, S.C.) turned in rounds of 74-75 to sit in a tie for 13th with a five-over total. Senior Jessica Rathbone (Montpelier, Va.) and freshman Yvette Gorden (Montgomery, Ala.) sit in a tie for 16th with a seven-over day.

Competing as an individual, junior Zoey Iglesias (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) currently sits tied for 11th overall with a four-over day while sophomore Aly Francis (Stockbridge, Ga.) currently sits tied for 58th on the leaderboard.

The Trojans wrap up action at the Links at Stoney Point with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
