ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University women's golf team moved up one spot and was ranked fourth in the latest NCAA South Region Rankings, which were released late Thursday afternoon. The Trojans were tied for fifth in the nation in the most recent Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Poll and were tabbed fifth in the latest Golfstat Poll.
The regional rankings are the official poll used by the NCAA in the championship selection process and are regularly released by the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Committee leading up to the NCAA Championship selections.
Last year, the NCAA South Region Championship featured nine teams and 72 individuals.
Joining the fourth-ranked Trojans from the South Atlantic Conference in the regional rankings were Limestone at No. 3, Carson-Newman was No. 10, with Wingate coming in at No. 11 and Lenoir-Rhyne earned the No. 12 spot.
AU has not finished lower than fourth in a tournament this year and owns the Patsy Rendleman title and runner-up finishes at the South Region Preview, the Flagler Fall Slam and earlier this week at the Emerald Coast Classic.
Lynn University, the runners-up to 2021 NCAA Champion Dallas Baptist, is the unanimous choice for the top spot in all three rankings.
The Trojans are scheduled to wrap up the regular season at the Findlay Spring Invitational, Monday and Tuesday in Lexington, Ky., before continuing their quest for a SAC title and an NCAA National Championship at the SAC Championships, March 3-5.
