Women’s Golf – Tied for Fifth in Latest WGCA National Poll – Readies for Low Tide Intercollegiate

ANDERSON, S.C. – On the heels of a runner-up finish at last week's Lady Moc Classic, the Anderson women's golf team, which has moved into a tie for fifth in the nation in the latest Women's Golf Coaches Association's (WGCA) national poll, is set to compete in Limestone's Low Tide Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be hosted by the Saints at the Dunes West Golf Club in Charleston and last year featured a 17-team field on a par-72, 6,100 yard layout.

This year's layout is identical, with the 2022 field comprised of 13 teams, including Limestone, Limestone B, Anderson, North Georgia, Lander, Lenoir-Rhyne, Carson-Newman, Tiffin, Columbus State, Young Harris, Erskine, UNC Pembroke and Davenport.

Led by junior Kerington Lamb's three-round, 6-over-par 222, the Trojans made a run and finished second at last year's Low Tide Intercollegiate. Lamb also claimed the runner-up spot last year, with Jessica Rathbone finishing in seventh place and Victoria Hall finishing in 11th place. Anna Freeman and Emma Charles each finished in a four-way tie for 14th.

Last week, Lamb fired a school-record 66 en route to taking home second place and paced the Trojans to the runner-up spot in Florida Southern's Lady Moc Classic. Freeman and freshman Kennedy McGaha finished in a tie for 12th place, while Zoey Iglesias finished one shot further back in a tie for 14th. Rathbone claimed a share of 27th place, with Hall finishing in a tie for 39th place. Charles rounded out the Trojan contingent in a tie for 49th place.

On the national scene, the Trojans moved into a tie for fifth place, alongside Barry, in last Friday's WGCA Poll after finishing behind just top-ranked Lynn in the Lady Moc Classic. AU was tabbed sixth in the nation by the WGCA last November. The next WGCA Poll is slated to be released on March 25.
