MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – Led by sophomore Jessica Rathbone's three-round, 8-over-par 224, the Anderson women's golf team finished in third place, Tuesday at Limestone's Low Tide Intercollegiate, which was hosted by the Saints at the Dunes West Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday on a 6,100 yard, par-72 course.
The two-day, 54-hole event saw the nationally third-ranked Saints open a 20-stroke lead after Monday's first two rounds and went on to claim the team title by a comfortable 19-stroke margin over runner-up and 18th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne, with the fifth-ranked Trojans two strokes further back in third place.
No. 17 Carson-Newman and Columbus State wrapped up the tourney in a tie for fourth place, while Tiffin slipped two spots and finished in sixth place. UNC Pembroke claimed seventh place, with North Georgia and Limestone (B) finishing eighth and ninth, respectively.
Lander, Young Harris, Erskine and Davenport finished out the 13-team field.
Limestone's Ebba Hellman (69-75-69=213) overcame a three-shot deficit heading into the final round and took home individual medalist honors, with Lenoir-Rhyne's Megan Robb (68-73-73=214) slipping to second place. The Saints' Stina Wikstrom (71-74-73=218) finished in third place.
Rathbone fired a final round 1-over 73 and moved up four spots to finish in a tie for fifth place, with freshman Kennedy McGaha posting a 2-over 74 in Tuesday's final round to claim a share of 15th place, alongside senior Victoria Hall, who carded a 3-over 75 on Tuesday.
Senior Kerington Lamb finished with a share of 17th place, while senior Anna Freeman was two strokes further back in a tie for 23rd place. Freshman Zoey Iglesias jumped eight spots to finish in a tie for 32nd place and junior Emma Charles rounded out the Trojan contingent in a tie for 36th place.
Following a two-week layoff, the Trojans will get back on the links at the Emerald Coast Classic, which will be held at the Baytowne Golf Club in Destin, Fla.
