Women’s Golf in Fourth Place Following First Two Rounds of South Atlantic Conference Championship

TAZEWELL, Tenn. – Paced by freshman Jessica Rathbone's two-round, 8-over-par 144, the Anderson women's golf team is in fourth place following Monday's first two rounds of the 2021 South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Championship.

Lincoln Memorial is hosting the two-day, 54-hole tournament at the Woodlake Country Club in Tazewell, Tenn., over a par-72, 5,926 yard course.

Limestone, which is in its first year as a full member of the conference and is ranked third nationally, leads No. 20 Wingate by a comfortable 13-stroke margin heading into Tuesday's final round, with the Bulldogs seeking their league-record fifth title after winning the 2018 championship. Lenoir-Rhyne, which won the 2003, 2004 and 2017 SAC titles, is in third place - six strokes further back of Wingate. Anderson, the defending tournament champion and ranked seventh nationally, is in fourth place - one shot behind the Bears - while host Lincoln Memorial and Carson-Newman share fifth place. Queens is in seventh place, while Tusculum is ninth.

Newberry, Catawba, Coker, Mars Hill and UVA Wise round out the 13-team field.

Wingate's Hailey McLaughlin (73-74=147) leads Limestone's Ebba Hellman (76-73=149) by two strokes and Lenoir-Rhyne's Beatriz Espelosin (71-80=151) by four shots in the chase for individual medalist honors. A trio of players, including Rathbone, is tied for fourth place - five shots off the pace.

Junior Victoria Hall carded a 12-over 156 on Monday and is in a three-way tie for eighth, while sophomore Emma Charles is tied for 11th place after posting a two-round 157. Senior Anna Freeman shares 19th place, with junior Kerington Lamb holding a share of 23rd place. Freshman Riley Mayhew rounded out the Trojan contingent in a tie for 32nd place.

Tee times will begin at 8:30 a.m. for Tuesday's final 18 holes.
