Women’s Golf Finishes as Runners-up at Limestone’s Low Tide Intercollegiate

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – Led by junior Kerington Lamb's three-round, 6-over-par 222, the Anderson women's golf team made a run at the leader and closed the gap by nine shots, while finishing second Tuesday at Limestone's Low Tide Intercollegiate.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament, featuring a 17-team field, was hosted at the par-72, 6,100 yard Dunes West Golf Course.

"Our girls really played well today," said Anderson head coach Danny Neal. "Conditions were worse today, which tells you something about their resilience and grit. And to top the third-best team in the country by nine strokes in the final round says a lot about how good this team can be. Individually, Kerington had a great tournament. Jess played also played well to finish in seventh place. Now we go back to work and begin preparing for a top field event in Orlando."

The host Saints led AU by 12 strokes entering Tuesday's final round, but the Trojans fired the best round of the day - and the second-best round of the tournament – to finish just three strokes behind Limestone. North Georgia remained in third place, while Wingate and Carson-Newman flipped spots in the final standings. The Bulldogs overtook Carson-Newman for fourth place, with the Eagles slipping one spot to fifth. Lander and UNC Pembroke remained steady in sixth and seventh place, respectively, with Lenoir-Rhyne claiming sole possession of eighth place.

Mount Olive moved up three slots to share ninth place with Lincoln Memorial and Limestone B, with Montevallo fell from eighth into 12th place following Tuesday's final round. Young Harris, Converse, Newberry, North Greenville and Coker finished out the field.

North Georgia's Megan Sabol (72-74+75=221) overcame a two-stroke deficit following Monday's first two rounds to take home individual medalist honors after claiming a one-shot victory over a host of runners-up, including AU's Lamb.

Lamb carded the fourth-best score of the day, while jumping from a share of seventh place into a tie for second, alongside four other golfers. Freshman Jessica Rathbone moved up two spots to claim seventh place, with junior Victoria Hall finishing alone in 11th place. Senior Anna Freeman and sophomore Emma Charles each finished in a four-way tie for 14th, with Charles jumping from a tie for 21st place. Freshman Riley Mayhew rounded out the Trojan contingent in a share of 23rd place.

Following a two-week layoff, the Trojans will get back on the links at the Peggy Kirk Bell Memorial, which will be held at the Orange Tree Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.
