Women’s Golf in Second Place Following First Day of Low Tide Intercollegiate

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – Paced by junior Kerington Lamb's two-round, 4-over-par 148, the Anderson women's golf team is in second place following the first day of action, Monday at the Low Tide Intercollegiate.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being hosted by Limestone at the par-72, 6,100 yard Dunes West Golf Course.

"The ladies played well," said Anderson head coach Danny Neal. "Kerington led the team, with Anna also playing well as an individual. I am very proud of the way the girls carried themselves and performed over a long day. Their play was very consistent and we hope to shoot our lowest round of the tournament tomorrow as we try to close the gap with the leaders."

The host Saints lead the tournament by 12 strokes over the Trojans, with North Georgia in third place. Carson-Newman is fourth, with Wingate holding the fifth slot. Lander and UNC Pembroke are sixth and seventh, respectively, while Montevallo is eighth.

Lincoln Memorial and Lenoir-Rhyne are tied for ninth, with Limestone B in 10th place. Mount Olive, Converse, Young Harris, Newberry, North Greenville and Coker rounding out the 17-team field.

Limestone's Ebba Hellman (76-68=144) leads the chase for individual honors by one shot over Wingate's Hailey McLaughlin (73-72=145) and by two strokes over teammate Stina Wikstrom (75-71=146) and North Georgia's Megan Sabol (72-74=146).

Following a season-best 1-over-par 73 in the opening round, Lamb is tied for seventh place heading into Tuesday's final round, while freshman Jessica Rathbone is tied for ninth place after firing a two-round 150. Junior Victoria Hall and senior Anna Freeman each carded a 7-over 151 and share 12th place after Freeman posted her best two-round score of the season. Freshman Riley Mayhew (77-75=152) is just behind in 16th place, while sophomore Emma Charles is tied for 21st place following a two-round 154.

The final round is slated to get underway, Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.
