Women’s Golf Stands in 12th Place after Second Day of NCAA South Region Championship

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Freshman Victoria Hall continues to lead the Anderson women's golf team, as the Moore, S.C., native carded a 2-over-par 74 in Tuesday's second round of the 2019 NCAA Division II Women's Golf South Region Championship.

The Trojans slipped one spot to 12th place in the three-day, 54-hole tournament, which is being hosted by Lee University at the Cleveland (Tenn.) Country Club on a par 72, 5,957-yard layout.

Nationally eighth-ranked Lynn slashed 11 strokes off its' first-round effort and jumped five spots to claim a three-shot lead over Saint Leo. Limestone is three strokes further back in third place, with No. 1-ranked Barry jumping from eighth place into fourth. Florida Tech, which led following Monday's opening round, fell to fifth, while Nova Southeastern and Tampa share the sixth slot.

Florida Southern, Lee, Flagler and Anderson round out the 12-team field.

St. Leo's Isabel Nesteus (70-72=142) overcame a two-shot deficit entering Tuesday's second round to climb into first place and shares the top spot with Lynn's Helen Kreuzer (73-69=142), who is the No. 6-ranked golfer in the nation. Limestone's Pilar Martinez (70-73=143) trails the leading duo by just a single stroke, with Saint Leo's Izzy Lawrence (75-70=145) vaulting from a share of 15th place into fourth place, three strokes off the pace entering Wednesday's final round.

First-round leader Lucy Eaton (68-78=146) of Florida Tech, slipped into a share of fifth place alongside Barry's Tilda Larsson (74-72=146), the top-ranked golfer in the nation.

Hall jumped 10 spots on the leaderboard and is in a five-way tie for 17th, while junior Kate Hill trimmed four shots off her opening round and climbed 16 spots into a share of 31st place. Sophomore Anna Freeman is tied for 55th place, alongside freshman Kerington Lamb. Senior Tiffany Elam sliced four strokes from her opening-round score and in tied for 60th place.

The top four teams along with the top four individuals not with a team from each super regional will advance to the finals, with the NCAA Division II National Championships set for May 14-18 at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Tee times for Wednesday's final round are set for 8:30 a.m.
