Women’s Golf Posts School-Record Final Round 291; Finishes Fourth at Patsy Rendleman Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. – Junior Kate Hill carded a two-day even-par 144 to lead the Anderson University women's golf team to its second record-setting round of the fall season on Tuesday, as the Trojans finished fourth at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational. The 36-hole tournament was hosted by Catawba at the par-72, 5,973 yard Country Club of Salisbury.

The Trojans fired a then-program record 293 four weeks ago on the second day of the AU Invitational and has bettered last year's record 295 twice in as many outings this fall.

Limestone led the tournament wire-to-wire and captured a four-stroke win over runner-up Lenoir-Rhyne, while UNC Pembroke slipped from a share of second place following Monday's opening round and finished third, three shots behind L-R. The Trojans trimmed eight strokes off their opening-round effort and finished just a pair of shots behind the Braves.

North Georgia jumped up two spots and finished fifth, with Young Harris claiming sixth. Coker moved up three slots and claimed seventh place, while Queens, Tusculum and Catawba rounded out the top 10. Mount Olive dropped three spots to 11th, with Barton, Lander and Erskine all claiming a share of 12th place. North Greenville, Belmont Abbey, King and Pfeiffer rounded out the 18-team field.

Lenoir-Rhyne's Abbey Hartsell claimed individual medalist honors after carding a 36-hole, 4-under-par 140 to edge UNC Pembroke's Alexandria Bare by one stroke. Limestone's Reme Cortes and North Georgia's Megan Sabol shared third place with 2-under par 142s.

Hill nearly equaled her season-low 68 by firing a 69 in Tuesday's final round and vaulting 10 spots up the leaderboard to finish tied for sixth place. Sophomore Anna Freeman (75–71=146) began the day tied for 16th but jumped into a share of 11th place, with freshman Victoria Hall carding a two-round 149 and jumping seven slots into a tie for 14th.

Senior Tiffany Elam (73-78=151) slipped from a share of 13th to claim a tie for 20th, with freshman Kerington Lamb carding a two-day 159 and finishing in a tie for 52nd.

The Trojans are slated to get back in action at the LeeAnn Noble Memorial, which will be hosted by North Georgia at the Achasta Golf Club next Monday and Tuesday.
