Women’s Golf Preps for Patsy Rendleman Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. – After winning the AU Invitational four weeks ago, the Anderson University women's golf team is set to compete in the Patsy Rendleman Invitational, which will be hosted by Catawba, Monday and Tuesday at the Country Club of Salisbury.

This week will mark Anderson's eighth consecutive appearance in the 36-hole event, with the Trojans posting strong outings in both 2016 and 2017. AU tied for fourth place in 2016 and Kate Hill led the Black and Gold to a third place finish a year ago.

The Daniel High School product finished in a tie for 13th, with Makalyn Poole sharing the 16th slot alongside classmate Tiffany Elam. Anna Freeman finished in a tie for 30th on the strength of a second-round 75, with Samantha Ellison finishing in 60th place.

Hill rallied from five strokes off the pace to post a school-record 4-under-par 68 and won individual honors at last month's AU Invitational, while the Trojans captured their second straight AU Invitational team title.

AU posted a program-record, final-round 293 on their home course four weeks ago, defeating Catawba by a comfortable 38-shot margin. Freeman finished second, just two strokes behind Hill. Elam claimed third place, while freshman Kerington Lamb was fourth.

Classmate Victoria Hall finished ninth, with Poole sharing 10th place and Ellison finishing in a tie for 24th.
