DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Sophomore Anna Freeman fired a two-day, even-par 144 to propel the Anderson University women's golf team to its second victory of the season, as the Trojans set tournament and school records en route to capturing the Fifth Annual LeeAnn Noble Memorial by 25 strokes over North Georgia on Tuesday.
The two-day tournament was hosted by the Nighthawks at the par 72, 5,934 yard Achasta Golf Club.
The title marked AU's second championship of the fall season, as the Trojans posted a school-record 287 in Tuesday's final round. The Black and Gold's effort marked a tournament-record for 18 holes, as well as a tourney record 584 for the 36-hole event.
The host Nighthawks finished a distant second, with Newberry two strokes further back in third place. Columbus State, which won the event in 2016, and Converse finished in a tie for fourth. Young Harris claimed sixth place, while Montevallo finished seventh.
West Georgia finished eighth, with Catawba, Lincoln Memorial, Lander, Southern Wesleyan, Erskine and King rounding out the 14-team field.
Freeman finished as runner-up by just two strokes to Lincoln Memorial's Lise Malherbe, with North Georgia's Megan Sabol claiming third place, one shot behind Freeman.
AU senior Tiffany Elam jumped from a tie for 30th following Monday's first round into a share of eighth place after shaving nine strokes off her first-round score. Freshman Kerington Lamb carded a career-best score for the second consecutive round and finished alongside Elam in a tie for eighth place.
Freshman Victoria Hall equaled her season-best two-round effort and claimed a share of 13th place, while Makalyn Poole finished in a tie for 29th. Junior Kate Hill carded a two-round 156 and shared 29th, alongside Poole.
The Trojans are scheduled to wrap up their fall slate at the Illinois-Springfield Island Getaway, Oct. 29-30, at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Resort in Puerto Rico.
