CALABASH, N.C. -- The Anderson women's golf team slashed 23 strokes off Monday's opening round score en route to finishing 10th on the final day of the Lenoir-Rhyne Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon at the Par-72 5,802-yard Meadowland Course. Senior Sophie Dembroski, who recorded four birdies, carded a final-round six-over 78 to claim a share of 17th, nine strokes behind Newberry's Maria Luz Besio, the individual medalist. AU sophomore Hayley Parks shot a consistent second-round 83, garnering a tie for 34th, while sophomore Kalyn Johnson shaved an impressive 15 strokes off her first round total and moved into a tie for 52nd along with teammate Anna Jenks, who posted a 15-over par for a two-day total of 175. Sophomore Laura Buyers trimmed 12 strokes from Monday's opening round to climb into a tie for 55th. As a team, the Trojans (346-323=669) wrapped up the two-day event just four strokes behind Armstrong Atlantic (350-315=665) and Catawba (341-324=665) and a comfortable 18 strokes ahead of Erskine. Anderson will get back on the links, Oct. 12-13, when the Trojans compete in the Patsy Rendleman Invitational in Salisbury, N.C. Fin.
