Trojans Continue To Execute On Both Ends Of The Floor To Defeat Clayton State; 80-60

MORROW, GA. – Anderson University women's basketball (2-0) continued its high energy play, defeating another Peach Belt Conference opponent Clayton State, 80-60, on the final day of the Conference Challenge on Saturday afternoon at the Loch and Mason Barfield Court.

"Another great day of energy for us," said head coach Jonathon Barbaree. "That energy led to us getting out in transition leading to some great scoring runs."

"Defensively, I think we understood our assignment and executed very well," explained Barbaree. "Hopefully, we can continue that moving forward and it's always great to win on the road, especially region games."

Anderson's junior Diamond McDowell tied her career high after pouring in a game-high 26 points. McDowell also ripped down eight rebounds and dished out four assists. Sophomore Ashlyn Sheridan netted 16 points and grabbed six rebounds while graduate Brittney Stafford chipped in 14 points, pulled in five rebounds while being credited with four steals and three assists. Freshman Peytyn Oliver scored seven points off of the bench on 2-of-2 from the field and 2-of-2 from the foul-line.

Clayton State's Jada Waite was the lone Laker to score in double-digits with 18 points.

The Trojans shot just over 45 percent for the game and outrebounded the Lakers, 48-37 to win its second straight contest.

The Black and Gold remain on the road to face off with Division I opponent University of Central Florida on Monday. Tip-off is slated for 6 pm.
