ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson senior Renato Assuncao and freshman Deni Mehagic were each named to the 2010 Conference Carolinas' men's tennis all-tournament team, as announced by the conference office. The No. 2 seeded Trojans posted impressive wins past Erskine and Mount Olive by identical 5-1 scores and nearly upset top-seed Lees-McRae in the championship match before falling, 5-4. Assuncao notched a 4-1 overall record, including two wins on the singles' side. The senior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, claimed a straight-set, 6-0, 6-4 win over Mount Olive's Gabriel Santana in the opening round and defeated the Bobcats' Travis VanHoy in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 in Sunday's championship. He teamed with Ilya Zakharov for wins at the No. 1 doubles slot past Erskine's Nemanja Brcan and Fabio Ciarrocchi and LMC's Steve Karendal and VanHoy. Mehagic garnered two wins on the singles side, defeating Erskine' Vincent Chauvette, 6-2, 6-2, in Friday's opening round, then knocked off Lees-McRae's Tyler Grove, 6-2, 6-4, at the No. 6 flight on Sunday.
