ANDERSON, S.C. -- Following the Trojans' impressive run through the 2010 Conference Carolinas' softball tournament that ended just shy of the title game, shortstop Meredith Knox and pitcher Casey Deer were named to the all-tournament team. Deer, from Ulmer, S.C., picked up the win in Anderson's dramatic 4-2 extra-inning win past Pfeiffer Saturday afternoon that kept the Trojan's title hopes alive. She pitched all eight innings in the victory, giving up only two runs on seven hits, and racked up eight strikeouts. The 5-foot-7 junior started two games in the tournament and also made two appearances in relief, tossing 19 innings and striking out 19 while issuing just five walks. Knox went 3-for-4 in the Trojan's come-from-behind 7-6 win over Mount Olive in AU's tourney opener, including a three-run game-winning home run to center field. The 5-foot-9 senior also accounted for the Trojans' lone run in the 2-1 setback to Limestone with an RBI-double in the first inning. She also hammered the two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Trojans a dramatic 4-2 win past the eighth-seeded Lady Falcons on Saturday. The Washington, N.C., native, boasted an astonishing 1.067 slugging percentage over the five games, while recording seven hits in 15 at-bats for a .467 batting average.
