Three Softball Players Named All-Conference

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Anderson University softball team placed three players on the Conference Carolinas All-Conference second team Thursday night. First baseman Lora Daniel, third baseman Meredith Knox, and pitcher Casey Deer all were named to the second team. Daniel, a 5-foot-9 freshman from Elberton, Ga., played in all 42 regular-season games and led the Lady Trojans in batting at .378, slugging percentage at .571 and RBI with 33. She had nine doubles, one triple, and four home runs. In the field, she committed just two errors in 309 total chances and recorded 304 putouts. Knox, a 5-9 native of Washington, N.C., started all 42 regular-season games and batted .333 with a team-leading 11 doubles and 16 RBI. She led the team in on-base percentage at .455 and in stolen bases with five. In the field, she led the team in assists with 112. Deer, a 5-6 freshman from Ulmer, S.C., was 8-7 with an ERA of 1.99. In 21 appearances, she pitched seven complete games and four shutouts. In 91.2 innings, she struck out 86 and walked 23. The opposition batted just .229 against her.
