Durham's Single Gives AU A Split

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson University split a non-conference doubleheader against Georgia Southwestern Monday at Smethers Field. In game one, the Lady Trojans got on the scoreboard first in the second inning on an RBI single by Kasey King to make it 1-0. But the Hurricanes used four unearned runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run single by Jessi Croft to right, to take a 4-1 lead. Anderson answered in the fourth with one run on an RBI double by Lora Daniel, but the Canes pushed the lead to 6-2 on a two-run single by Ashley Harris in the fifth. The Lady Trojans pushed one more run across in the sixth to make it 6-3 but couldn't finish to comeback. Anderson was led in the first game by Meredith Knox, who was 3-for-4 and two runs scored. Harris led the Canes with two hits in four at bats and two RBI. In game two, Anderson scored two runs in the fourth on a single by Kinsley Durham single that scored Daniel and King. Georgia Southwestern used a solo home-run by Croft to close the deficit to 2-1, but the Lady Trojans held for for the one-run victory. Casey Deer earned the win for the Lady Trojans, while Brittany Milstid took the loss. Anderson is now 10-8 on the season.
