SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Anderson men's tennis team opened the 2012 spring season by dropping a 6-1 decision to Division I opponent USC Upstate Wednesday afternoon at the Upstate Tennis Complex.
Anderson slipped to 1-1 while USC Upstate moved to 2-2 overall.
Trojan junior Daniel Gonzalez garnered AU's solo win, as he was up by a set after winning the first, 6-3, before the Spartans' Pierre Vernin retired.
Next up for the Trojans is a visit to Georgia College on Friday. First-serve versus the Bobcats is scheduled is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Milledgeville, Ga.
