Men's Golf Team Tied For Sixth At Queens Tourney

BLUFFTON, S.C. -- Lander fired a 284 to take the first-round lead in the Queens Invitational Monday at the Pinecrest Country Club. Anderson University is in a three-way tie for sixth in the 18-team field with host Queens University of Charlotte and Pfeiffer at 299. Midwestern State is second at 294, Wingate is third at 295, and Clayton State and Carson-Newman are tied for fourth at 297. The individual leader after the first round is Mitch Molen of Midwestern State, who shot a 7-under 65. Billy Belair of Lander is second with a 67, and Shane Dyer of Wingate is third with a 69. Anderson was led by Adam Sheriff with a 70. He was followed by Ryan Booth 75, and Garland Smith and Will Ferguson, who both shot 77. The second round will be played Tuesday morning.
