Limestone Hangs On To Win AU Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. -- First-round leader Limestone and second-place Tusculum both shot 291 in the second round to allow the Saints to hang on for a one-shot victory in the 2008 Anderson University Invitational at the Brookstone Meadows Country Club Tuesday afternoon. Limestone finished with a 36-hole total of 1-under 575 on the par-72, 6,685-yard Brookstone course, one shot better than Tusculum. Mount Olive was third in the 10-team field at 580, and host Anderson was fourth at 582. First-round leader Darren Christie of Tusculum shot a 1-under 71 to go with his first round of 66 for a two-shot victory over Luke McClellan (69-70) and Brad Williams (67-72) of Limestone. Also earning All-Tournament honors were Patrick Wilson of Erskine (70-70), Jack McClelland of St. Andrews Presbyterian (71-70), and Eric Schmehl of Catawba (73-68). Schmehl provided a highlight in the second round with a hole-in-one on the par-3, 200-yard 13th hole. Anderson University Men's Invitational Final Results
