AC Invitational Begins Play Monday

ANDERSON, S.C. - The 2005 Anderson College Invitational opens play Monday morning at the Brookstone Meadows Golf Club. The 36-hole event features 11 men's teams and 10 women's teams. Tee times for Monday's first round will begin at 8 a.m. Host Anderson will have two teams - A and B -- in the men's tournament. Joining the Trojans are CVAC members St. Andrews Presbyterian College, Lees-McRae College, and Mount Olive College. The other teams in the men's field are Spartanburg Methodist College, Cape Fear Community College, Wingate University, Lincoln Memorial University, Southern Wesleyan University and Tri-County Technical College. The Anderson A team is led by freshman Adam Sheriff and senior Curtis Norwood. Joining Anderson in the women's field are CVAC members Belmont Abbey College, St. Andrews Presbyterian College, and Mount Olive College. Rounding out the women's field are Newberry College, Wingate University, Tusculum College, Lincoln Memorial University, South Carolina Upstate, and Catawba College. The No. 1 player for the Anderson women is freshman Erin May. The Brookstone layout features numerous hills, slick and firm bent grass greens, and several blind shots. Because of construction on the par-4 15th hole, Brookstone Meadows will have a par of 71 instead of 72 for the tournament. The fifteenth hole is playing as a 110-yard par-3 hole until the new turf in the reshaped fairway is established.
