Trojans Close With 302, Finish Sixth

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Kyle Owings broke par for the second straight day to lead the Anderson College men's golf team to a 302 in the final round of the Bill Hill Memorial at the Golf Club at Westcott Plantation Tuesday. Owings, a junior from Pauline, S.C., shot a 71 to finish in a tie for second at 142 with Courtney Faircloth and Jonathan Woodall, both of Barton College. Luke Stephan of host Kennesaw State led the Owls to the team title by winning the individual title with a 138 total. Kennesaw State was first at 577, Cameron (Okla.) was second at 579, and Barton was third at 581. The Trojans finished the tournament in sixth place with a 36-hole total of 599, Anderson's lowest tournament score since joining NCAA Division II. The previous low tournament score was a 601 in the 2000 Top-Flite/Rafferty's Intercollegiate at Fort Mill, S.C. Anderson's other scores in the second round were: Reed Brown 74, Brad Eskierka 78, and Denton Moore and Jon Hines, who both shot 79.
