ANDERSON, S.C. -- After leading the Anderson men's basketball team to back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in eight years and the best record in school history since becoming a four-year institution, guards Brandon Young and Tony Anderson have been recognized as all-conference performers, as announced by the conference office Friday afternoon. Young was named to the first team after starting all 27 regular-season games for the Trojans. He became the school's all-time leading scorer versus North Greenville after joining the prestigious 1,000-point club earlier this season, becoming just the fourth player in the history of Anderson University men's basketball to reach the milestone. The 6-foot-2 playmaker leads the team in scoring, steals and assists and ranks fifth in the conference in assists and steals and 11th in scoring. A native of Belmont, N.C., Young ranks 57th in the nation in steals per game and led the Trojans in scoring on nine occasions, reaching double figures in 25 games, while reaching the 20-point plateau six times and handed out at least 5 assists in 10 games. Young closed the season out with a streak of 18 consecutive double-figure scoring games and had at least one assist in 26 of 27 games this season. Anderson was selected to the third team following a regular season that saw the 5-foot-11 senior rank second on the team in scoring and 13th in the conference in scoring and 16th in steals. The Greenville, S.C., native led the team in scoring in seven games, with a season-high 32 points versus Belmont-Abbey. He reached double figures in 20 games, while reaching the 30-point plateau once and the 20-point level eight times. He also recorded at least two steals in 11 games and handed out at least one assist on 24 occasions, while averaging 20.2 points per game during a six-game stretch late in the season. 'This is an outstanding honor for both Brandon and Tony," Anderson head coach Jason Taylor said. "They've both played huge roles and nbeen important to our success as a team. It's great recognition for all the hard work they've put in and it's a reflection of the team's success. Anytime an individual earns an award like this it comes within the team concept - they could not have earned these honors without their teammates and these guys would be the first to say that." Mount Olive, which claimed the regular-season title, had three players on the all-conference squads, as Young was joined on the first team by Mount Olive's Kendrick Easley, Pfeiffer's Chris Woods, Queens' Daniel Bailey and Mason Ambler from Coker. Anderson hosts Belmont Abbey in semifinal round action of the Conference Carolinas' tournament tonight. The Trojans and Crusaders split during the regular season, with each team winning on its home court. All Conference Teams
