Game Two: Anderson 9, Newberry 8

The Trojans broke a tie with three runs in the top of the seventh and a Newberry rally in the bottom of the seventh fell short.

AU's Ryan Saxon started the scoring with a first inning RBI single, but Rufus led off the bottom half with a triple and tied the game when he scored on a wild pitch. Anderson reclaimed the lead in the second with a sacrifice fly by Troy Ambros and an RBI single by Jonathan Romano to make it 3-1. Gray hit an RBI single in the bottom of the second and Love gave the Wolves a 4-3 lead in the third with a two-run homer.

An unearned run in the top of the fourth for AU tied the game, but Fogarile and Love responded with RBI singles in the bottom of the inning to make it 6-4. However, Saxon and Erick Sanderson led off the fifth with back-to-back homers to tie the game again.

After a scoreless sixth, the Trojans unleashed three straight RBI singles with two out in the top of the seventh to make it 9-6.

Love led off the bottom of the seventh with a single, followed by a pinch-hit single from Zach Upton. A Vogel RBI single and RBI sacrifice bunt by Rohena brought Newberry within a run, and the winning run got on base with one out via a walk by Sanchez Gartman. But Riley McDermott retired the final two Wolves' hitters on a flyout and a groundout to leave those runners stranded.

McDermott worked three full innings of relief for the win, while Nate Elder absorbed the loss for Newberry.
