ANDERSON, S.C. - The Erskine Flying Fleet defeated Anderson, 22-12, as the Trojans wrapped up a four-game homestand with the setback in non-conference baseball action at a cold and windy Anderson Memorial Stadium Thursday night.

Erskine improved to 15-5 on the season, while the Trojans dropped to 11-12 with the setback.

Anderson second baseman Ryan Saxon was 4-for-5 on the night and reached base five times, while also adding a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. Sophomore Erick Sanderson went 2-for-6 with a home run and three RBI, while third baseman Blake May recorded four walks and scored twice. Junior left fielder Bobby Roper scored a team-high three runs.

The windy conditions played havoc with the defense as the two squads combined to commit eight errors on the night that led to five unearned runs.

Erskine junior lefty Tayler Ramsey tossed 4 1/3 innings and gave up just two hits, but walked eight Trojans, while striking out seven and surrendered nine runs, but earned his second win of the season.

Anderson senior Kaleb Davis suffered the loss after surrendering eight runs in two innings of work, while striking out three and issuing two walks.

Anderson jumped out to an early lead courtesy of two unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning, but the Flying Fleet countered with six runs in the second and nine runs in the third frame to score all the runs they would need on the night, gaining a 15-2 advantage heading into the fourth inning.

The Trojans posted five runs of their own in the fourth inning, as Sanderson provided the damage with his team-leading sixth home run of the season - a slicing two-out three-run shot over the wall that stayed just inside the foul pole.

Anderson capitalized on two walks and three singles to tack on three more runs in the fifth to close the gap to 15-10, but Erskine answered with five runs in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach.

During each home game David Walker and Palmetto Insurance Associates sponsor the "Jackpot Inning", when if the second AU batter in the bottom of the fifth inning hits a home run out of the park, the lucky fan with the winning ticket wins five hundred dollars.

David Walker, Director of Athletics Nancy Simpson and head coach Joe Miller presented Zeke Stephens with his five-hundred dollar award prior to tonight's contest after the Trojan fan came up with the winning ticked back on Feb. 12 in the opening game of a doubleheader against Coker when Sanderson hit a two-run home run following Ryan Saxon's lead-off walk in the fifth inning.

Anderson will get back on the diamond for a three-game South Atlantic Conference series at Tusculum beginning on Friday. First-pitch in Greeneville, Tenn. is scheduled for 7 p.m.
