ANDERSON, S.C. - After falling behind early, the Anderson baseball team rallied but fell 4-3 to visiting Catawba in South Atlantic Conference action Friday night at Memorial Stadium.

Anderson (11-17, 5-8) suffered its sixth consecutive setback, while league-leading Catawba (21-5, 12-1) claimed its sixth straight win and nine of its' last 10.

Catawba freshman Chris Dula's one-out RBI-single down the left-field line scored Austin Moyer from second to give the Indians the narrow win after the Trojans rallied from an early 3-0 deficit with a solo run in the sixth and a pair of runs in the seventh.

Dula opened the scoring by leading off the second inning with his fourth home run of the season. The Indians followed by stringing together three consecutive singles to boost their lead to 2-0, with designated hitter Garrett Furr scoring the second run of the night.

Catawba first-baseman Austin Moyer hit a one-out homer over the right-field fence in the next inning, giving the visitors a three-run cushion, but following a walk to Dula, AU starting pitcher TJ Estes settled down to retire 13 of the next 16 Catawba hitters.

Anderson rallied to tie the game after seven frames. In the sixth, Troy Ambros was hit by a pitch with one out and came around to score on a two-out single by Blake May. The Trojans struck twice toe even the score with two outs in the seventh, with Tony Price singling to center and Shawn Delmontagne posting a stand-up triple to right-center to plate Price from first. Delmontagne later crossed the plate when Catawba hurler Nick Lomascolo was unable to field Thomas Padro's shot back up the middle cleanly.

Lomascolo earned his fifth straight victory, improving to 5-1. He went eight innings, allowing two earned runs off six hits, while walking one and struck out 10. Senior Wil Huneycutt earned his third save, tossing a perfect ninth inning.

The Indians collected 11 hits on the night with Moyer, Dula and Ryan Bostian each collecting two apiece. Freshman centerfielder Zach Reeves had two singles for the Trojans. Senior Elliott Tolley suffered the loss for the Trojans, falling to 1-1 on the season.

The two teams close out the three-game series with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday at Anderson Memorial Stadium.
