Brookman Named Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

ANDERSON, S.C. - Jeff Brookman has been named assistant men's basketball coach at Anderson University, head coach Jason Taylor announced Wednesday afternoon. Brookman, a native of Charlotte, N.C., has served as an assistant coach at the semi-pro, Division I, Division II, and AAU levels. "We're very fortunate to be able to add Jeff to our staff," Taylor said. "He's been an assistant on several different levels, and he played and coached at Belmont Abbey. He brings a lot of experience and is very good in the areas of player development and teaching." Brookman played at Belmont Abbey College from 1994-98. He was named the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Freshman of the Year after the '94-95 season and was a two-time team MVP. He is second on the Belmont Abbey career list for 3-point goals made with 266. After finishing his career at Belmont Abbey, Brookman played in the Switzerland Professional League from '98-00. Brookman started his coaching career in Switzerland where served as the head coach of two club teams. He returned to Belmont Abbey in '01 as an assistant coach for a team that won both the CVAC regular-season title and CVAC tournament title and reached the East Regional semi-finals. In '02, he joined the staff at Radford University as an assistant coach. He returned to the Charlotte area in '05 as an assistant coach for the ABA's Charlotte Krunk. He left the Krunk in January '06 to join the staff of the Charlotte Royals, a 17-and-under AAU team.
