Mahaffey Earns Conference Runner of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. - On the heels of her 12th-place finish at last Saturday's Gene Mullin Furman Cross Country Invitational, Anderson University senior Amanda Mahaffey has been named the South Atlantic Conference women's cross country Runner of the Week, as announced by the league office.

The Taylors, S.C., native posted a season-best time of 19:51.20 as she led the Trojans to second place, trimming more than two minutes from her previous season-best time.

Mahaffey was fourth among D-II runners competing in the event, while Furman runners claimed the top nine spots as the host Paladins won the event for the second consecutive year. The Trojans outpaced the rest of the field, including Erskine, Emmanuel, Brevard, Belmont Abbey, North Greenville and Fort Valley State.

The Trojans will get back on the course on Friday at the Queens Invitational in Charlotte, N.C.
