Women’s Cross Country Ranked Seventh in Preseason Poll

NEW ORLEANS - The Anderson women's cross country team, two-time defending South Atlantic Conference champions, is ranked seventh in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) preseason regional rankings for the NCAA Division II 2012 season.

The Trojans open the 2012 campaign at USC Upstate's Eye Opener in Spartanburg on Friday.

Top women's teams include Shippensburg (Atlantic), Augustana (S.D.) (Central), Stonehill (East), Grand Valley State (Midwest), Tampa (South), Adams State (South Central), Mount Olive (Southeast), and Alaska Anchorage (West).

Regions in DII are determined by conference affiliation. Many from the Central and South Central regions switched regions for the 2012 season. Most notably, the MIAA went from the South Central to Central regions and the RMAC was switched to the South Central region from the Central.

Rankings

USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning team strength with current-season results in determining predicted team finishes at the NCAA Regional Championships.
