ANDERSON, S.C. -- Junior Jamie Lancaster's double-double helped lift Anderson past Converse, 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-18) in Conference Carolinas volleyball action Tuesday night at the Abney Athletic Center. "We played well and it was good to win in three sets," said Anderson head coach Craig Mosqueta. "Shelby Netherton came in and did a great job in the middle. I feel good about the way we're playing as a team right now." Anderson improved to 16-11 overall and 8-5 in the conference, while Converse fell to 7-24 and 2-11 in league play. "We are headed in the right direction going into the conference tournament," added Mosqueta, whose team has won four of its last five contests. The Trojans took advantage of errors by Converse to gain an early 7-3 advantage in the first set only to see the Valkyries battle back to within 10-9 on a kill by junior Tiffany Dean. A kill by Trojan junior Adria Mullaney boosted the AU lead back out to two points and leading, 16-13, the Trojans reeled off four consecutive points behind the strong serving of senior Jennifer Moffitt, forcing Converse head coach Regina Schantz to call for a timeout. The Valkyries halted the AU run with a kill, but Anderson answered by closing the set on a 5-1 run to collect the win. A kill by AU freshman Paulette Rivers snapped a 7-7 tie in the second stanza to give the Trojans a lead they would not relinquish and with Netherton serving, Anderson jumped out to a 15-7 advantage and pushed on to the second-set victory. Anderson trailed for the first time of the contest early in the third set, 7-5, but regained the advantage on another score by Rivers and behind the combined serving of sophomore Katie Rich and Mullaney, edged out to a 19-13 lead. Converse climbed to within six again at 23-17, but a pair of kills, first by Mullaney then by Netherton closed the door. Lancaster posted a match-high 11 kills in 21 attempts while committing only one error for a .476 attack percentage and collected 12 digs en route to recording her 15th double-double of the season. Rich added 13 digs, while Mullaney and Rivers each notched six kills on the night. Up next for the Trojans is a two-match conference road swing, beginning at Coker on Friday and concluding at St. Andrews on Saturday afternoon. Game Stats Season Stats
