GREENWOOD, S.C. -- The Anderson volleyball team opened the Lander Dig Pink Volleyball Tournament with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-17) win past Francis Marion Friday afternoon at Horne Arena. "We had lots of team cohesion and our defense was very good," said Anderson head coach Craig Mosqueta. "Our blocks slowed [FMU's] attack down and we executed well on offense." Anderson improved to 14-10 on the season, while the Patriots fell to 11-11. More details and statistics as they become available … Anderson plays two matches on Saturday, facing UNC-Pembroke at 9 a.m. and host Lander at 3 p.m. Dig Pink is part of the Side-Out Foundation, which raises money to help breast cancer patients. Many of the teams in the tournament will be donning pink and have participated in activities to raise money for the cause. The Side-Out Foundation utilizes the best-qualified sources to guide is allocation of donations. Its policy is to find not only the neediest organizations locally, but the most promising areas that can deliver practical near term results in the areas of therapeutic treatments and improved quality of live for breast cancer patients.
