ROCK HILL, S.C. – With the 2017 tennis season right around the corner, the Anderson men's tennis team has been picked to finish fifth, as the 2017 South Atlantic Conference Preseason Poll was released by the league office Monday.
Trojans Ignacio Bidegain and Jeffrey Dayton have been named to the Preseason All-SAC Doubles second-team. Bidegain/Dayton are both freshman for the Black and Gold and played exceptionally well during the fall season.
The Trojans closed out the 2016 SAC campaign with eight victories and claimed the No. 4 seed in the SAC Tournament. The Black and Gold were just edged out by Newberry in the opening round.
Queens (135 points) was voted as the preseason favorite while earning five first place votes. Wingate (125 points) also earned five first place votes was selected second. Tusculum (112 points) was third with two first place votes.
Newberry (96 points) fills the fourth spot while Anderson (92 points) is fifth, Lincoln Memorial was voted sixth, Lenoir-Rhyne seventh and Coker eighth. Rounding out the poll is Catawba, Carson-Newman, Mars Hill, and Brevard.
Anderson will open up the 2017 on the road at USC Sumter on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 3 p.m.
