TIGERVILLE, S.C. – After sweeping through the doubles round, Anderson University men's tennis continued its winning ways in the singles portion, as the Trojans closed their fall schedule with an 8-1 victory over North Greenville Wednesday afternoon at the Vance Tennis Complex.
With the victory, AU moves to 3-0 on the season while North Greenville falls to 1-2.
Playing at the No. 1 position, freshman Ignacio Bidegain and Jeffrey Dayton defeated Jose Gomez and Dion Nijboer, 8-4, while senior Nicolas Ascarrunz and freshman Preston Morpath won over Edmundo Torres and Alex de la Torre, 8-1. Earning the third point for the Trojans was veterans Juan Carracedo and Ramiro Urreta winning over Austin Schlarb and Lucas Siva, 8-2.
The Black and Gold narrowly missed blanking North Greenville losing the No. 2 slot by a slight margin of 6-4, 7-6(3).
Anderson returns to action when it begins its spring season on Saturday, Feb. 4 when it hosts Columbus State. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
